Intermediate vehicle
L'Insolente is a project by NoDesign in response to ADEME's call for projects, l'Extrême défi pour la création, design and prototyping of so-called “intermediate” vehicles as an alternative to the automobile for everyday use. L'insolente is a 2-seater electric vehicle, light quadricycle L6e (and optionally L7e) based on cycle and motorcycle technologies. It is a vehicle for work, travel and leisure, with a large load capacity. Powered by two motors in the rear wheels, it is limited to 45km/h but has plenty of torque. It is designed for "village-to-village" distances, with a range of between 100 and 150km. It is equipped with durable, maintainable and recyclable European components. Chassis and motorization are mass-produced and shipped in kit form, to be assembled locally in less than an hour.
A program-driven automobile: efficient, maintainable and sustainable
L'insolente is also a manifesto for the importance of technical and functional architecture at a time when technologies are becoming commodities. It focuses on the use of durable, renewable materials and components. As a platform for experimentation, its layout is reversible. It is also a design and industrialization laboratory. Finally, from these constraints, it becomes an expressive, simple and recognizable design that fits in with the concept of program cars, as a technology of hope.

An alternative production model
The chassis and powertrain will be mass-produced and shipped in kit form, to be assembled locally in less than an hour. The rigid body components are made of recyclable flax/thermoplastic composites (Arkema). They are easy to produce without expensive tooling. Rain canopies are made from Mylar, Dyneema and fabric from unused areas of Marconi sails (triangular). These lightweight, inexpensive skins are easy to assemble and repair by heat-sealing. The entire body skin weighs between 10 and 25 kg. The Insolente's chassis is a mechanically-welded structure made from chromoly steel tubing (25CrMo4), a grade frequently used in the motor sports sector. These steels are all of French origin, cold-drawn by our partner Osborn Metals in Longeville, Seine-et-Marne.
Drive is provided by two GEM motors housed in the vehicle's rear wheels. Produced in Slovenia, they each deliver 3kW for 10.5kg each. The insolente is equipped with widely available and reliable components from the two-wheel industry.

Repairable and recyclable Gouach batteries
Gouach offers a battery that can be maintained, serviced or totally recycled. Gouach batteries are easy to repair, replaceable and reusable, thanks to solderless technology and no internal cables. This makes it possible to replace individual cells, giving our batteries a second life. They are designed, manufactured and assembled in France from recycled cells and materials.
