Electrosound - Catalogue

Exhibition catalogue
Published to coincide with the Electrosound exhibition at the Espace Fondation EDF in Paris, Electrosound is both a catalog and a historical reference work, focusing on the evolution, uses, currents and aesthetics of electronic music. Like the exhibition, it covers a broad spectrum of electronic music, from 1945 to the present day, from the pioneers and researchers of the post-war era to the current popular triumph of electro. Through the prism of instruments and technologies such as the home studio, the first samplers, Moog synthesizers, MIDI, Ableton Live software, Roland and EMS, circuit-bending and do it yourself, not forgetting the latest research in spatialization and sound processing, the texts in the catalog evoke the way in which each of these tools proves emblematic of an era, an aesthetic, a socio-technical context, the practice of artists and engineers who have shaped electronic music in the XXᵉ and XXIᵉ centuries. Richly illustrated with period photos and sidebars, the book also includes numerous testimonials, quotes and interviews with artists such as Jean-Michel Jarre and Kraftwerk.
