Le Design

Essays on theories and practices
Design, which was originally associated with industrialisation and refers to different and often disparate categories of objects, seems to be resisting academically delimited discourses and theories. With around twenty previously unpublished articles and interviews with designers, this publication takes up the historical and aesthetic, social and economic challenges of design. It complements various works on the history and present of design, primarily from the Anglo-Saxon world. As design today is a driving force for creation and innovation, and even more so for consumption, it has a direct impact on the future of our industrialised societies.
