An interresting article on "design doing" at Apple

Read on site MacGeneration the pen of Florian Inocente.

JonathanIveportrait Jonathan Ive, demarches Jonathan Ive is very bad at drawing, that's what he said. The discrete pattern of design at Apple has said little in preparation for an event at the Royal College of Art in London where he will receive this week a honorary doctorate.

This is a standard clause to say that we can not draw when it was learned. The important thing is to think in three dimensions. The drawing is the only way of learning it.

Ive explained that his drawing skills were "catastrophic" (editor's note: the explanation finally design very rectangular Mac?) "And I am poor presenter. Suddenly I want to design, "he joked." I love prototypes. We come directly from the idea stage to that of its prototype. I just love making things. The prototypes cause a radical change in exchange - things suddenly become tangible and silence disappears. "

The subject is important, form speaks true. The model is the practice of growing the product, function and beauty. C is the oxygen of good designers. This allows experimental embodied and creative accidents, a sort of creation of Serendipity.

On the fact that Apple has a fairly limited product lines, "When you do everything to have the best of products also means that you must focus on a limited number". Ive always excludes the idea again and submit its ideas to the comments of user panels "We do not focus groups. If you try not to offend anyone and it leads to bland design products "

The co-design to the bathroom to be clear. This does not a conversation with users. Apple does not fall through in some French caricature "over User Centred (ergonomics, usability as one strategy), but know change: the gradual opening of the iPhone 3.0 is an interesting example.

Florian Inocente adds this: (editor's note: other teams at Apple take care of themselves from angry people: FireWire, glossy screens, ExpressCard ... check the box).

Apple has not yet rid of some drifting economic-marketing.
